I need some help with a power supply..
Ok so I just bought a LKB Bromma 2297 macrodrive 5 constant power supply and it does not have the owners manual with it or any of the high voltage output leads, so what I need to know is if anyone on here knows either what type of leads it needs, or where i can find some. The ports that they plug into look very odd, and I haven’t been able to identify them as of yet, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time

The other question that I had was about the Iterlock, what type of cable that takes and what it is used for.

Those HV terminals look very similar to what we see on Melles Griot laser heads.

Re: I need some help with a power supply..
Where i used to work they used a lot of similar supplies, the LKB site doesn't seem to have those.
I found a second hand site http://www.labextreme.com/detail.cfm?autonumber=70215
On that image you can see a plug, but generally they were often shrouded 4mm banana plugs
The interlock i believe was possibly to shut the power off when the lid of the electrophoresis lid is opened
I was maintenance electrician on a site with labs, we often had resolder the plugs, but never really got involved with the lab equipment operation.

Thank you for your quick responses,
so far I've found a few sites that have these power supplies, and a couple of them have the plugs with them, but I haven’t been able to find what they are, it looks like they have some kind of shielding and are very specific. I don’t think I could just bypass it, nor would I want to just incase its important.

The important thing with those connectors is that you can't accidentally touch the high voltage, there are other models where the terminals are further apart and obviously for single plugs (not the twin ones shown in my link above)
I'm not sure if there is some sort of interlock inside the case on those sockets to disable the supply if a plug is removed, but that can easily be checked.
Looking at the close up of the high voltage terminals, there's a white piece in there that could be a switch.
If you have some banana plugs handy, or a piece of 4mm rod, does it fit snugly in the connectors ?
Something like this is what i'm thinking

If those plugs that you show work, could non-resistive spark plug wire be used ?SparkyProjects wrote:The important thing with those connectors is that you can't accidentally touch the high voltage, there are other models where the terminals are further apart and obviously for single plugs (not the twin ones shown in my link above)

Yes, we use it all the time. You can also get HV cable from a neon sign shop pretty cheap
