The glass I used for the Geek Fusor was salvaged from another instrument and had viton seals for flat surface sealing, so I made up the flat plates.

I'll take a bunch of pictures of fusor chamber related things and post them.

I thought I already was a G3, never paid any attention, I guess.

You were a G3. But you, and everyone else who appears on this list was demoted to a G1 and had to start from scratch. Several of the people on that list were terminated outright.

Thanks for coming out on the right side of that one. :) We rather like having you around.

Well, I would say, personally, that's an understatement.

Also, what's up with the 'white spot' in the middle of the picture at 16:30 in the fusor demo?

Mike , I have a couple of questions: Will copper wire work OK ? And what Neg pressures are we talking ?
Thanks,

Copper will work for a short time, it's pretty hot in there. It will last a little longer than a fuse on a dead short. You can even melt the stainless wire if you run it too long.

as far as pressure, a demo fusor will generally fire at low voltage below 250 millitor. It'll be fuzzy and crispen up as the pressure drops.

I just had a thought since you posted those.
I don't know if anyone has seen the old fashioned lights for outdoor use, they are the same shape and have a rim, Something like this http://www.qvsdirect.com/images/P/t_18366_med.jpg, the old type had a brim like a hat.
The one in the image is a slender style, but there were some that had a larger diameter.
Keep your eyes open for old warehouses with these lights.

Sparky, I have a couple of those, small ones. We had them at the L/P plant that I worked at,they were supposed to be explosion proof.

Explosion-proof doesn't mean implosion-proof..

Also, if you can, you want to get the vacuum about as hard as you possibly can, then allow some non-nitrogen gas in there...

...the nitrogen gas will form compounds (just like in a spark gap) and coat the wall of the fusor, making the glass more-and-more ugly with each run (even if there's no visible difference from one run, to the next).

What I meant was, they kept L/P gas away from an ignition source. :)
