The visual impact on the room is immediate and spectacular. The room is now uniform and beautiful. We used grey, but you can now get the epoxy tinted to almost any colour you want. (The epoxy doesn't work well with exceptionally light or bright shades, but the range it can handle is amazing)
In addition to being pretty, the floor is now much sturdier than it was before. After it cures (which will take 5-7 days), the floor will be much easier to clean. Grease and oil just sit on top of the epoxy, rather than seeping into the concrete floor. We have driven cars, forklifts, and manlifts over the epoxy without any problems at all. |

We did encounter a few problems. As mentioned previously, our facility was once home to a whole lot of ink. Even though we cleaned very, very thoroughly, we simply couldn't get rid of 100% of the previous ink. In a few small places the epoxy didn't stick to it. To the left, you can see a close-up of how the floor appeared after it dried. (It has a reddish tint to it because it was magenta ink)
In most places where this occured, after rolling the epoxy, you could see it wasn't sticking. We were able in most cases to use a brush to carefully apply it. After it cured, you can't tell where we did that. But in a few places it just wouldn't stick.
However this was just in the instances of dried plastic ink - something that isn't particularly common to find on a concrete floor. Any areas that had been satured with grease and oil covered perfectly. |

We also encountered a small roof leak! Unfortunately we did not realise that we had the roof leak until we noticed this spot on the floor. If you have any sort of ceiling leak in the room you will be applying epoxy, try to fix the leak first. If you cannot, perhaps try and hang something to catch the leak until the floor cures. Otherwise you will also encounter this situation.
It isn't very big or noticable, but the epoxy in this spot has a very irregular surface and in the middle, there is no epoxy at all.
We are happy to report, however, that these are the absolute only problems we encountered in this process. |

Some small imperfections aside, you can see the striking difference between the "before" and "after". When the floor dries it has a satin sheen to it. If you desire a high-gloss finish, they do have a glossy finish available. |
