AMF Bowling

Known as the place to go for bowling fun, AMF centers across the country are home to leagues for all ages and open bowling for anyone looking to hoist a ball. At more than fifty years old, AMF Bowling Centers, Inc. has a rich history of providing the sporting world with innovative technology and equipment, including the first automated pinspotter introduced in 1946. AMF has been and will continue to be the leader in the world's number one participatory sport, but that doesn’t mean their only concern is pure whimsy. AMF is also dedicated to educational whimsy.
What would a Newton's Cradle be without balls? Little bits of string that don't do much of anything fun or educational. Thanks to the gift of more than thirty 15lb bowling balls from AMF, The Geek Group was able take those little bits of boring string (actually 20 ft. long steel cables), construct an enormous Newton's Cradle, and set The Group's first world record: world’s largest Newton's Cradle. Hung from the ceiling of the main demonstration hall, the Newton’s Cradle quickly became one of The Geek Group’s flagship demonstrations and its most popular hands-on toy for visitors of all ages.
In addition to being an excellent illustration of Newton's third law, this demonstration is a fun, exciting way to get kids and adults alike into the hands-on world of science together. Families have the opportunity to interact with the demonstration as a team, thus allowing them even more to bond as a unit, because like AMF, The Geek Group believes in the importance of families and communities working, learning, and playing together. The Geek Group and the communities we serve owe AMF a debt of gratitude and they have our most enthusiastic thanks.
