Known the world over for quality printing ink, paper, and plates, Flint Group and its family of subsidiaries have made it their mission to provide the private and corporate community with competitive pricing, peerless service, and custom products for staples to daily life often taken for granted. Reaching from headquarters in Luxembourg to pigment manufacturing in Kentucky and sales offices in Hong Kong, Flint Group has set the standards for the ink and printing industries, but that doesn’t mean that small town roots have been forgotten or abandoned.

Unlike many corporations who are content to let unused buildings remain fallow, Flint Group has not only found a use for empty facilities, but also found a way to give back to one of the communities they spent many years working with and in. Thanks to the generosity of Flint Group, The Geek Group is now the proud owners of an almost 20,000 sq. ft. building and accompanying land on Burdick Street in the heart of Kalamazoo’s historical industrial area. Originally a center of Flint Ink Works manufacturing, the building now houses the offices for the Kalamazoo branch of The Geek Group, Applied Intellect’s computer shop, Mach 1 Productions, as well as many existing demonstration pieces and member projects. Christened “The Geek Group Heavy Industries Facility,” this location became the base of operations for Geek Group activities across the globe in June of 2007. Because the property was donated directly to The Geek Group, Flint Group has made possible a permanent home in a community ripe for educational and technological education and innovation. There are no words large enough to convey the magnitude of this gift, both for The Geek Group and the communities it serves, so a humble and heartfelt thank you to Flint Group and its board of directors for this life changing contribution will serve.
